YAYASAN DKK HAS DISBURSED MORE THAN RP 1 BILLION IN KOMPAS READER ASSISTANCE

In the last three months, Yayasan Dana Kemanusiaan Kompas (DKK) has distributed humanitarian aid worth more than Rp 1 billion to disaster victims in several regions and residents affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Assistance from daily readers of Kompas and Kompas.id was provided in the form of basic needs, personal needs for refugees, bedding, medicines, and other supporting facilities.

Dkk A Foundation Chairman Tomy Trinugroho expressed his gratitude for the donations made by the donors. The help of donors is very helpful for disaster victims and citizens who are in desperate need of help. "DKK will continue to try to distribute the best possible assistance to disaster victims or groups of citizens who need help due to their limitations," said Tomy, Thursday (4/2/2021), in Jakarta.

On Monday (1/2/2021), DKK distributed 16 units of smart gadgets to SMK Negeri 1 Cangkringan, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, to support distance learning (PJJ) during the Covid-19 pandemic. The vocational school is in the danger zone of the Mount Merapi eruption. The students and teachers there were not only affected by the Covid-19 pandemic but also affected by the Eruption of Mount Merapi.

Gawai assistance was handed over by The Head of Central Java Bureau-DIY Kompas Gregorius Magnus Finesso to the Head of SMKN 1 Cangkringan Nurlatifah Hidayati at SMKN 1 Cangkringan. In the event, there were also representatives of a number of business units from the Kompas Gramedia business group.

Gregory hopes that the help of gadgets from readers can support distance learning (PJJ) at SMK 1 Cangkringan which was forced to be done during the Covid-19 pandemic. "The students in the village should get access to the same education and knowledge as the students in the city," he said.

Nurlatifah Hidayati expressed his gratitude for this help. "During this pandemic, we implemented distance learning, but many children do not have mobile phones. So, this mobile phone assistance is very useful for children," he said.

Furthermore, the school will manage the aid device and will lend it to students who do not have gadgets so that they can follow PJJ optimally.

Before distributing aid in the form of gadgets to SMK 1 Cangkringan, DKK has distributed humanitarian aid to residents of Merapi slopes in the DIY and Central Java areas affected by the eruption. Assistance in the form of personal needs, basic necessities, medicines, and others was distributed to several evacuation posts in mid-November 2020 and mid-January 2021. The total assistance that has been handed over is worth more than Rp 150 million.

DKK also distributes Kompas reader assistance for victims of Mount Ile Lewotolok eruption disaster, NTT; flood victims in Cilacap, Central Java; landslide victims in Sumedang, West Java; flood victims in South Kalimantan; and earthquake victims in Mamuju and Majene, West Sulawesi. Assistance is provided, among others, in the form of personal needs, sleeping equipment, and medicines with a total value of more than Rp 750 million.

In addition to assistance for victims of natural disasters, at the end of 2020 DKK also distributes aid to residents affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the poor. Aid was distributed to orphanage residents in some areas, artists in Central Java who lost income during the pandemic, and to leprosy care homes in Asmat, Papua.
