By shopping for books at Gramedia, every customer has the opportunity to help the advancement of education and literacy in Indonesia. This is realized through the distribution of customer donations collected through cashiers at 120 Gramedia outlets spread across 33 provinces and 53 cities in Indonesia during the period September-November 2020.
During this period, donations were collected around Rp18,000,000.00. The funds are then distributed in the form of children's reading books, novels, stationery, and colored pencils. This customer donation activity was first distributed on Friday, November 27, 2020, for two Community Reading Parks (TBM).
The first TBM to receive this donation was TBM Global Literacy Youth Group (PPLG), Serang City, Banten. The donation was symbolically donated by Gramedia Cikupa Store Manager Bernard Tarigan and received by Masrur Alawi who was also attended by the children of TBM PPLG Serang City.
The second donation was distributed to TBM Citra Raya at Mekar Bakti Multipurpose Building, Tangerang Regency, Banten. On this occasion, Gramedia through Bernad Tarigan handed over donations received by Sadullah. In this submission, the Head of Mekar Bakti H. Mansur Sub-District and Mekar Bakti cadet reef device were also present. In his speech, H. Mansur said that he thanked Gramedia for the donation of the books.
"These books are obtained from donations from Gramedia customers who shop at Gramedia bookstores throughout Indonesia. I hope this book donation can be useful and useful for the development of children's literacy in Indonesia," said Bernad Tarigan after the donation in Mekar Bakti.
