Kompas Daily was awarded as a dedicated newspaper in the use of the Indonesian language. Four consecutive years Kompas received a similar award from the Development and Language Development Agency of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

This year, there are 20 best print media in the use of the Indonesian language, including Bisnis Indonesia, Pikiran Rakyat, and Republika. The award of dedicated print media in Indonesian is given to Kompas Daily, Koran Tempo, and Media Indonesia.

Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Anwar Makarim in his speech said, "The existence of The Indonesian language has become a boon for the Indonesian nation. Because unity is knitted with The Indonesian language. Momentum commemoration of Youth Oath Day every year reminds everyone, including the world of education, a pledge to uphold the language of Indonesian unity. Without love (towards the Indonesian language), efforts to improve children's literacy skills are difficult. In fact, good literacy has an impact on many things, such as the creation of superior resources for lifelong learners, global competency, and behaving in accordance with Pancasila values. Furthermore, language and literary development policies in Indonesia are directed to care differences. The Ministry of Education has mapped 718 regional languages that are still used by Indonesians. Literacy of the regional language is still done in conjunction with Indonesian," said Nadiem while attending the online activities of Puncak Bulan Bahasa dan Sastra 2020, Wednesday (10/28/2020), in Jakarta.

On the same occasion, the Board of Language Development and Development also gave awards including, among others, the Southeast Asia award to dedicated literature during 2018-2020, Ministry of Education Literature award 2020 in the category of novels, short stories, poetry, and essays/literary criticisms, as well as The Face of Bahasa Indonesia in public spaces.
