JAKOB OETAMA WINS ACHMAD BAKRIE AWARD

The daily general leader of the Compass Jakob Oetama was elected as the awarding of Achmad Bakrie 2019. Jakob was judged to deserve the predicate of modern Indonesian journalism.

The award for Jakob Oetama was presented by the Chairman of the jury of the judges Mallarangeng from Freedom Institute in Jakarta, Tuesday (13/8) night. With Jakob Oetama, the 17th of Achmad Bakrie's rebuke was also given to Ashadi Siregar for popular literature, Prof Anna Alisyahbana for medicine, and Anawati for the science field.

According to Rizal, a new journalistic award was first given during the Achmad Bakrie awards. Jakob Oetama is seen not only capable of developing journalism skills but also able to develop it as a proud business industry in Indonesia. "He deserves a lifetime achievement," said Rizal.

The Achmad Bakrie Award is given to Indonesia's best son and daughter who dedicates his life to the nation's progress. They think, write, and examine in relatively quiet conditions.

Ashadi Siregar received the award through his novel Cinta at the Blue campus. Before becoming a novel, the work was screened in serialized stories on the Kompas daily.

Meanwhile, Anna Alisyahbana was chosen as the recipient of the Medical Award by developing family Planning Program (KB) and integrated Service post (Posyandu) that contributed to the health and adequacy of Indonesian children's nutrition.

Physicist Anawati received an award in science through its discovery of a simple tool capable of filtering heavy metals. This work is judged to save the lives of the people of Sumbawa Island, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
