Basketball is a sport that is very popular with Indonesian people. Consisting of 2 teams of 5 people in one team, this sport is carried out with the aim of scoring by putting the ball into a basketball hoop. This sport relies heavily on teamwork and hand strength. Kompas Gramedia received a visit from the Indonesian Basketball Association on Thursday, 22 June 2023 in the Borobudur Room, 6th Floor of the Kompas Tower.
The delegation from the All-Indonesian Basketball Association was led by PP PERBASI Chairman Danny Kosasih. PP PERBASI Secretary General Nirmala Dewi, Marketing Communications Admin Sylvi Abimael, and Media Relations Kumaidi. A warm welcome was given to PERBASI from representatives of Kompas Gramedia, including Deputy Managing Editor of Kompas Nowo Daily, Head of Public Relations KG Media Arrozi Effendi, Super Intendant Acquisition of KompasTV, Assistant Editor of Sports Kompas.com Firzie Idris, Executive Producer of Sports KompasTV Ebnu Yufriandi, and SPORT BALL Reporter Putri Anisa Maharani.
Deputy Managing Editor of Kompas Nowo Daily opened the meeting by introducing Kompas Gramedia as well as introducing snacks from the leaders who were also present. Head of Public Relations of KG Media Arrozi Effendi also added the history and various business units owned by Kompas Gramedia in the Media sector.
“Basketball is one of the 3 biggest sports and is recognized by the big leagues. The 3 sports are football, basketball and volleyball," said Niemala. The PERBASI delegation explained that these 3 sports have a women's team that already has enough crowd to form a Women's League. PERBASI plans to create a joint LIGA, namely the LIGA for ASEAN countries.
Nirmala also added, "FIBA has commented that Indonesia has high potential, especially in the field of sports, namely basketball," she said. Danny also appreciated Kompas Gramedia which had previously contributed to PERBASI at previous events to support it as a media partner.
Basketball has many fans, but it must be denied that the sports sector in Indonesia must be aware of the behavior of society and its fans. Sports matches in Indonesia become very busy being discussed if you are able to surpass an opponent who is quite great or famous. Whereas in small matches, not many people are interested in watching the match.
Sylvi added that in strengthening the infrastructure of this industry, two strong foundations are needed, namely the support of the government and the market from this industry itself. In terms of marketing, Sylvi also said that there are many ways that can be used to attract audiences to basketball matches. An example is choosing several players with good physical appearance. Sylvi also added that it doesn't mean that players without good physical appearance cannot play, but that players who have great talent and good physical appearance can attract more spectators.
In advancing the sports industry, this is a challenge in itself, this has been proven through the behavior and enthusiasm given by the Indonesian people. PERBASI believes that with a good strategy and great potential from players, this industry will develop rapidly.
This visit is an implementation of Kompas Gramedia's vision and mission to collaborate with various parties in an effort to enlighten the nation. Kompas Gramedia and the Indonesian Basketball Association take advantage of this good opportunity to strengthen inter-agency relations and explore potential future collaborations to support the achievement of the sports industry in Indonesia and encourage economic achievement through the support provided to PERBASI.
