H.E. Lee Sang Deok said that the South Korean Embassy was very pleased to be able to visit Kompas Gramedia which is one of the largest media companies in Indonesia. Since long ago, there have been many collaborations that have existed between Indonesia and South Korea in the automotive to electronics fields. This media visit is expected to help strengthen Indonesia-South Korea diplomatic relations with the media as a disseminator of information regarding the diplomatic policies of the two countries. This visit was also part of the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and South Korea.
In the discussion with the Chief Editor of KG Media, it was explained how Indonesia could learn from the success story of South Korea in becoming a developed country in Asia. Starting from the cultural approach, namely the spread of "Korean Wave" throughout the world; technological approach, namely Samsung mobile phone products which are now worldwide; to the automotive approach with Korean car manufacturers who are now starting to stick their teeth in competing with Japanese car manufacturers as well as electric vehicle innovation.
From the world of entertainment, Kompas Gramedia through Dyandra Promosindo has helped enliven the K-Pop stage by becoming a concert promoter for K-Pop artists in Indonesia. "In 2023, Dyandra has and will hold nine concerts by K-Pop artists. We are very excited to see collaboration between South Korea and Indonesia in the long term," said PT Dyandra Media International Tbk. President Director Daswar Marpaung.
The momentum of 50 years of Indonesia-South Korea diplomatic relations is expected to further strengthen relations between the two countries and create various opportunities for bilateral cooperation. Indonesia and South Korea have carried out solid bilateral relations since September 1973 and consulate-level relations have started since August 1966. In 2017, bilateral relations entered a new chapter and agreed to upgrade the status of the partnership to a special strategic partnership. This close relationship and cooperation is supported by the nature of the complementarity of resources and advantages possessed by each country. In addition, the two countries also actively support each other in various regional and international forums.
