Jakarta, May 5, 2023 - Kompas Gramedia opens itself as a place of learning for students as a form of support for the development of the country's education world. Friday, May 5, 2023, Kompas Gramedia received a visit from students of the Department of Communication Sciences, Tarumanagara University, accompanied by Supervisor Nigar Pandrianto S.Sos., M.Si. The group of students was received at Borobudur Room lt. 5 Menara Kompas to learn with Video Managing Editor Kompas.com Laksono Hari Wiwoho about the world of online journalism.
Before entering the main discussion, fellow students got a brief presentation about the development of Kompas Gramedia as a multi-industry company with 8 business pillars. The presentation was delivered by PR Analyst Devin Airlangga from Corporate Communications.
"As a multi-industry company, Kompas Gramedia certainly must continue to innovate and be adaptive. In addition to expanding the reach of the industry, Kompas Gramedia always strives to provide the best products and services for customers. We realize that it is important to always get closer to the community, so this visit is one of Kompas Gramedia's efforts to introduce our business unit to the young community," said Devin.
Furthermore, Video Managing Editor Kompas.com Laksono Hari Wiwoho, who is familiarly called Soni, shared his knowledge and experience in the world of journalism with students starting from how the editorial work process, the responsibilities held, and what challenges are faced.
"In the world of journalism, Kompas.com focus on developing and adjusting to the development of the media. One example is that we adjust to the news presented through videos posted on social media. We do this to adjust the habits carried out by millennials and Generation Z who are not used to reading the news," said Soni.
He added that Kompas.com focus on providing news by upholding 10 news values. Kompas.com also implements independency and prioritizes public trust in the news produced. Soni said that journalistic activities require someone to go into the field. By covering activities directly, one can think about and feel various emotions experienced by the community.
A question and answer session was opened to give students the opportunity to satisfy their curiosity about the topics discussed. The various questions asked by the students to the resource persons were a form of their enthusiasm. The visit ended with the handover of mementos from Tarumanagara University to Kompas Gramedia. Before saying goodbye, the group of students was invited to visit the Kompas.com Newsroom. Through this short tour, students can observe the process of media production and discuss journalistic activities on Kompas.com.
