Kompas Humanitarian Fund Foundation Distributes Public Kitchen Logistics to Help Cianjur Earthquake Victims

Jakarta, November 24, 2022 - The Kompas Humanitarian Fund Foundation (YDKK) moved quickly to distribute aid to residents of the Cianjur earthquake victims, West Java, by procuring logistics for public kitchen needs. The distribution of public kitchen logistics is carried out in collaboration with the dean of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad) of the Army.

Assistance from Kompas readers was given with a symbolic handover by the Executive Manager of the Kompas Humanitarian Fund Foundation Anung Wendyartaka which was received by the Deputy Commander of the Bekang Battalion 1 Kostrad Major (Cba) Dwi Sukohadi on Thursday morning (24/11) at 10.00 WIB at the soup kitchen post 2 Maleber, Ciherang, Pacet, Cianjur Regency.

The main focus of the assistance distributed is the logistics of public kitchens by providing food needs such as rice, oil, side dishes, instant noodles, sugar, shallots, and other ingredients. These ingredients are cooked in soup kitchens, then distributed to communities affected by the disaster. The logistical assistance of the soup kitchen is expected to be able to meet the daily food needs of the community. Each day is targeted at 200 people at each point to receive assistance with the systematic of three meals a day per person.

Executive Manager of the Kompas Humanitarian Fund Foundation Anung Wendyartaka revealed, in the current disaster conditions, YDKK collaborates with experienced Kostrad so that the mandate of Kompas readers is well distributed.

"In this first phase, DKK allocated 300 million funds to help logistics public kitchens in four posts spread across the earthquake area located in Cileungsi Village, Cugenang District; Maleber Village, Pacet District; Ciputri Sarongge Kidul Village, and Humaritis Pavilion, Cugenang District," continued Anung, on Thursday (24/11/2022).

The processing and delivery of logistics to residents in need will be managed by Kostrad. Deputy Commander of the Bekang Battalion 1 Kostrad Major (Cba) Dwi Sukohadi said that Kostrad received orders from Pangkostrad to help communities affected by the earthquake disaster. The provision of food is also assisted by volunteer mothers who help wrap the food.

"It's great to have a soup kitchen. The first day after the disaster, my family and I always eat instant noodles because there is no kitchen and cannot cook at home, I am worried if there are still aftershocks," said refugee resident Widya Nurlaela (20).

Not only food aid, but the Kompas Humanitarian Fund Foundation will also conduct a survey of locations that have not been touched by the government. It is planned that YDKK will provide assistance in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of public facilities such as education and health facilities that have been severely damaged.
