Jakarta, September 29, 2022 – Terbuka University visited Kompas Gramedia on Wednesday (28/9/2022) in order to strengthen friendship and expand opportunities for collaboration. Terbuka University delegation led by the Chancellor of Terbuka University Prof. Drs. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus was received at Studio 1 KompasTV, Kompas Tower, South Palmerah. Terbuka University is an educational institution that provides opportunities for the wider community to broaden their horizons. The event opened with remarks from the Corporate Communication Director of Kompas Gramedia Glory Oyong and the Manufacturing Group Director of Kompas Gramedia Hari Susanto. Then continued remarks and presentation of material from the Chancellor of Terbuka University Prof. Drs. Ojat Darojat, M. Bus. After the delivery of material from both parties, the event continued with a discussion session discussing the design of the cooperation.

In the discussion session, Ojat Darojat said, “Although it is not the first choice university for prospective students, we still adhere to the 5th Precept of Pancasila, namely social justice for all Indonesian people. We have the same vision and mission as Kompas Gramedia which wants to generalize education in Indonesia and enlighten the nation. This is also in accordance with government directives."
Responding to the narrative from Ojat Darojat, Hari Susanto said, "On this auspicious occasion, let this forum make us know each other so that the collaboration between Kompas Gramedia and Terbuka University that was started by GoMan can be more widespread with various opportunities that can be worked on together." Closing the discussion session, Rahmat Budiman conveyed a positive message, “We will prepare for cooperation. Please prepare media partners, especially in remote areas, because without the help of media partners, the Open University will not be able to develop.”
At the end of the discussion session, Kompas Humanities Journalist Tatang Mulyana Sinaga asked questions about Terbuka University's plans in the future to remain a superior university in the midst of many universities that implement digital learning. “Distance education has many guidelines, not just online based learning. Although the majority of universities have implemented digital learning, only Open Universities have received Quality Certificates from the International Council for Open and Education (ICDE) in Asia. This means that the Open University has the best distance higher education (PTJJ) program,” answered Ojat. Complementing his answer, Ojat added, “How can Terbuka University survive by improving its performance and services. We continue to uphold the values and goals of Terbuka University by providing educational opportunities for all people in Indonesia. We also do this by collaborating with various parties to support education.”
The end of the question and answer session marked the end of the formal session of this visit. The visit was continued by reviewing the KG Media Newsroom, then a tennis friendly match at the South Palmerah Sport Center until 19.00 WIB. After competing in the field, the event closed with dinner. Through this event, it is hoped that the collaboration between Kompas Gramedia and Terbuka University can be closer and become a means for Kompas Gramedia in contributing to equal distribution of education in Indonesia.
