East Kalimantan, July 6, 2022 - Kompas Gramedia distributes book donations through the CSR program of the Nusantara Literacy Movement - AkuBaca as many as ten packages of reading books in the "10 Years of Indonesian Diaspora Global Movement" event. The event was held in the Capital of the Archipelago (IKN), Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province. Indonesian Diaspora Network Global (IDN-Global) is a non-political, non-profit, independent, and global-scale organization that aims to facilitate friendship and cooperation among diaspora communities in Indonesia.
Book donations were distributed to several schools in East Kalimantan. This book donation is a commitment from Kompas Gramedia to help foster a reading culture in the community in an effort to improve Indonesian literacy.
The book assistance was welcomed and received directly by the Coordinator of the Center for Institutional Development and Community Empowerment of LP2M Unmul as well as the Chair of the Real Work Lecture Committee (KKN) Muhammad Arifin and handed over directly by IDN Global President Kartini Sarsilaningsih.
“Diaspora has a Book Window program for the World. We mobilize Diaspora friends to donate regularly. It starts now. For now, we are collaborating with Kompas Gramedia to donate books. Will be distributed to schools around IKN. Later we will see how the response and subsequent needs, for us to plan even bigger. Also cooperates with higher education institutions such as Mulawarman University. We are open to collaborating with any party," said IDN Global President Kartini Sarsilaningsih.
“We identified schools in Sepaku District as recipients of book packages. What is certain (given) was to SD Pemaluan. In this elementary school, a literacy community reading room will be created which is part of the Mulawarman University Community Service Program. The book package given by Kompas Gramedia through Diaspora today will target other schools in Tengin Baru Middle School and Bumi Harapan High School. This program will be a continuation of the Indonesian Diaspora to advance the quality of education for the community around IKN. The plan is that all villages and sub-districts will receive a share from the Indonesian Diaspora," said the Coordinator of the Center for Institutional Development and Community Empowerment at Mulawarman University LP2M and Chairman of the Real Work Lecture Committee (KKN) Muhammad Arifin.
Also present to witness the handover of the #AkuBaca book donation, the Head of the Balikpapan TV Kompas Bureau Yanuar Riswandanu and the East Kalimantan Tribune Advertising Manager M. Eko Wahyu representing Kompas Gramedia.

It's all digital right now, but the Internet connection is not evenly distributed. Some remote areas have not received this facility. For this reason, books are still needed for schools.
