Awsome! UMN Ranked 146th in the World in UI GreenMetric with the Highest Score in Water Treatment

TANGERANG - Multimedia Nusantara University was ranked 146th in the world in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2021 which was announced on Friday (14/12/21). Not only that, but UMN also still maintains its first predicate as the Greenest Private Campus in Jabodetabek. The results of this ranking demonstrate UMN's commitment and contribution to creating a sustainable environment.

UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is an annual publication initiated by the University of Indonesia on ranking universities worldwide based on commitment and action on sustainability. The ranking aims to raise the university's awareness of sustainability.

There are six categories of assessments in this GreenMetric UI ranking, including area and infrastructure (setting and infrastructure), energy and climate change (energy and climate change), waste (waste), water (water), transportation (transportation), and education (education). Of these six categories, UMN earned the highest points and ranked 48th in the world in the water treatment category.

"UMN itself is all the water that is recycled, but in-recycle it is not directly hit by people. For example, if the tap water gets the same person, yes. It [water that comes into direct contact with its users] we still pack water from PDAM. But, the water that is not directly affected by umn staff and academic community is the result of all recycling," said Niki Prastomo as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics UMN and consultant to UI GreenMetric from UMN.

Nonetheless, Niki revealed UMN must continue to increase its commitment to sustainability. He argued that the achievement of UMN in this ranking is only limited to the surface. According to him, the development of a sustainability mindset and culture in UMN is the most important thing to pay attention to.

In the future, Andrey Andoko as Vice-Rector II for General Administration and Finance of UMN said UMN will continue to take the initiative to improve various sustainability programs. Andrey revealed that his sustainability activities will be much focused on student activities.

"Including research activities in academia about sustainability. One of us considers is also the number of vehicles that enter the campus. It needs extreme policy. For example, it is limited to the number of vehicles that enter the campus, "said Andrey.
