Kompas Humanitarian Fund To Build School After Majene Mamuju Sulbar Earthquake

After eleven months without a school building due to being destroyed by the magnitude 5.9 earthquake, which hit Majene, West Sulawesi, last January 2021, today the students of SDN 4 Mekatta, Kec. Malunda, finally has new hope with the establishment of their school building again, the school building assistance foundation humanitarian funds Kompas, today handed over by the Kompas Humanitarian Fund Foundation to the government of Majene Regency, To be used immediately in the teaching and learning process.

Kompas Humanitarian Fund Foundation again distributed humanitarian assistance for victims of the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Majene district, west Sulawesi last month, this humanitarian assistance in the form of a newly completed elementary school building along with all facilities and school mobilers, in Mekatta Village, Malunda Subdistrict.

The presentation of the new school building to the Majene Regency government, conducted by the DKK foundation on Monday morning, a rapturous welcome from the students and the school and local government to the YDKK group was lively, as a sign of their respect and gratitude for this very valuable help.

State Elementary School 4 Mekatta, is one of the school buildings that suffered severe damage to collapse after the Majene earthquake, as a result of which the teaching and learning process was carried out in a makeshift tent in the old market location not far from the school location, the students also claimed to be very happy today to have a new school building with compass reader assistance for them to use learning.

The signing of the handover event news was carried out by Deputy Regent Majene and the Kompas Humanitarian Fund foundation, the YDKK itself stated that building a building with six study rooms, as well as all supporting facilities including mobilers and textbooks were all prepared by the foundation, and this development fund came from the contribution of Kompas readers, with a total budget spent of 2.2 billion rupiahs.

The Majene Regency government also expressed its big gratitude for the help of the construction of this school, the Majene government itself admitted that after the earthquake was still focused on repairing a lot of damaged infrastructure, so it could not focus on all damaged school buildings like this.
